What would be the ideal musical environment in which to create magical performances? I’ve made a lot of recordings, played many concerts and never would have imagined it would be to fly to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, live in a house with other musicians, wake up and record all afternoon and evening. But that’s what happened…

This project is centered around the two fabulous vocalists, Dee Daniels and Denzal Sinclaire, singing primarily songs that I remember having learned in our Baptist church. They didn’t just sing them, they breathed the spiritual life and energy into them. As a result, Bobby Floyd, Isaiah J. Thompson, Herlin Riley and myself would play while partially mesmerized (only partially, as one foot had to remain on the planet in order to play the music accurately!). The euphoria we felt was always a topic of discussion among us because the music was so very, very special. It was like having goosebumps on your soul. We didn’t have to record each song over and over because they all flowed so naturally and we worked out any challenges in record time.

When you listen to this music, you’ll be hearing the vibe that was there. You’ll feel the impossibly tangible light that was flowing out of our instruments. You’ll want to dance (and please do!), you may want to shed a tear (likewise), but no matter what, you’ll be affected by this gathering. It’s an eclectic collection of spiritual music, gospel, jazz, blues, pop and who-knows-what other influences.

Please enjoy the bright creations from this unforgettably musical meeting. “Let It Shine! Let It Shine!” is the perfect title for this collection of love.
